In a move that would redefine the Smartphone user experience in the country, Reliance Mobile and Samsung Mobile today announced the launch of India’s first Android powered CDMA handset Samsung Galaxy i899. Combing a unique blend of performance and elegance, Samsung Galaxy i899 will offer an enhanced experience of seamless Speed Data on the Move offering speeds upto 3.1 Mbps to Reliance Mobile customers. The new Smartphone available only on Reliance Mobile network will also be the first CDMA device to be launched in India pre-installed with Android Market – an online applications store developed by Google for Android devices.

“The launch of Samsung Galaxy i899, Smart Phone, is in line with our strategy to offer next-generation services with unmatched  voice clarity, hi-speed wireless data network access and ultra-fast application downloads on India’s largest and only nationwide CDMA mobile service   to Reliance Mobile customer,s” said Vrajesh Shelat, Head of Handset & Data Services, Reliance Communications.

The futuristic touch-screen CDMA smartphone would also enable high-speed access to popular social networking sites like Facebook, Orkut, MySpace, YouTube as well as Gmail, GTalk and Google Maps. Featuring a 3.2” AMOLED touch-screen, a 3.2 megapixel camera, a media player and expandable memory upto 32GB, Samsung Galaxy i899 comes with popular Smartphone features including support for phone, email, text messaging, Wi-Fi, HTML web browser and more.

“Empowering Reliance Mobile customers to access work and personal information on the move in addition to a host of fun applications, the feature-rich Samsung Galaxy i899 is a powerful, smart and stylish communication device that would redefine the Smartphone user experience in the country,” Mr Shelat added.

Announcing the launch, Mr. Ranjit Yadav, Director – Mobile and IT, Samsung Electronics stated, “With this association we hope to target a large consumer base of Reliance Mobile subscribers by offering them the feature rich Galaxy i899 – India’s first CDMA Android Phone. Applications from the Android Market can be easily downloaded and installed on to the Galaxy  i899 very fast,  thereby opening up an entirely new world of applications for the mobile phone users , which they can further customize as per their preferences. Consumers can also enjoy enhanced experience of several data speed dependent applications on the Hi Speed Data network of Reliance Communications. With this launch, we have considerably strengthened Samsung’s CDMA portfolio in the Indian market.”

Attractively priced at Rs. 19,900/-, Reliance Mobile customers upgrading to Samsung Galaxy i899 will also get Free Data Usage on Reliance Netconnect Broadband+ – 10GB for 1 month for prepaid customers and 15 GB per month for 2 months for post paid subscribers.

The smartphone features built-in Wireless Broadband support that offers data speed of upto 3.1 Mbps allowing customers to access Android Market to browse and download thousands of exclusive, free and powerful third-party applications on this platform.  The vast reach of Reliance Mobile’s CDMA will allow the Smartphone user to access high speed internet connection anytime, anywhere.

Reliance Communications, India’s largest and only telecom operator offering both CDMA and GSM service across India, has announced the launch of first-of-its kind Customer Care Initiative ‘Live Chat’.  This Live Chat service will enable Reliance’s customers with real-time query and issue handling through chat-based online platform.

In the first phase of the launch ‘Live Chat’ will be available to Reliance’s over 1.3 million data customers across the country.  Following the implementation of the service across the data business, RCOM plans to extend the service to other business groups.

According to Anurag Prashar, President Corporate & Wireless – Customer Service, Reliance Communications,“Our data customers are internet savvy. Many of them, whether company executives, professionals, students, teenagers and even business owners, have had experience with various messengers and live chat utilities. This makes adoption of the online customer care delivery system much easier. As we expand to enhance this delivery channel, we plan to extend its coverage to our voice customers too.  This is in line with our Service strategy of leading the industry through innovation and personalized care”.

RCOM has established the ‘Live Chat’ Contact Center at the company’s headquarter at New Mumbai.  This facility will have over 500 dedicated workforce equipped to handle 75,000 live customer interactions in a day.

As Reliance Communications begins the journey towards 200 million customers, the company is adopting a multi-pronged customer-focused strategy with the expansion of its GSM network and CDMA mobile broadband network, while focusing on customer-centric innovations and enhancing the overall Customer Experience.  The launch of ‘Live Chat’ forms the first step in this customer-oriented focus and enhancing the overall customer experience.  RCOM is going Live with its Live Chat service across 15,000 towns with a scale-up plan to cover 24,000 towns by end of the first quarter of this fiscal.

In its latest offering in the Value-Added Services segment, Reliance Communications has launched MobileNet, a single data plan which will provide hassle-free internet access to its GSM/Reliance Telecom Limited subscribers.

Through MobileNet, RCOM GSM/RTL subscribers can avail GPRS through multiple channels like self-care (RWorld, SMS, USSD), e-recharge, paper voucher, Internet etc.

Currently, RCOM GSM/RTL subscribers can avail GPRS services through mobile using different APN (Access Point Name) like RCOM Wap (via RWorld) and connect phone to PC/laptop /modem to browse internet using RCOM Net (via NetConnect charges applicable). Customer experience in each of these scenario(s) is different and process is cumbersome.

Mr Anil Pande, Head – VAS, Reliance Communications, said, “MobileNet GPRS plans will give you internet access on mobile as well PC/Laptop. You can use the MobileNet to access information, services and entertainment, much the same way that you do on your PC. In fact, existing plans on WAP (Mobile Internet) and Net (Net Connect) plans would be combined to offer better and improved offering.”

Through this VAS offering, RCOM plans to leverage revenues from the existing and new subscribers. Charges will be applicable on a real-time basis. Free multimedia content (Wallpapers, Ringtones, videos, etc) worth Rs.51 for Mobilenet51 plan and content worth Rs.99 free with Mobilenet99 plan is available for pre-paid users of RCom GSM and RTL only. For post-paid customers, MobileNet99 will have over usage of Rs.99 on quota completion.

MobileNet 51 has a rental of Rs 51 with a plan validity of 15 days and the user can download up to 1GB. This plan has an offer validity of 12 months. In MobileNet99, the user has access to unlimited downloads up to 2.5GB. It has a rental of Rs.99 and valid for about 30 days, with an offer validity of 12 months.
