Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL), the second largest car manufacturer and the largest passenger car exporter, in a bid to provide convenient finance options for its customers, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Bank of India (UBI), a premier public sector bank. The MoU was signed by Mr. Arvind Saxena, Director, Marketing & Sales, HMIL and Mr. R. K. Mohanty- General Manager (Retail Banking, HRD, Planning, Resources & Research.

UBI, with its headquarters in Kolkata, has 1,558 branches and more than 300 ATMs across the country. It offers vast and varied services to ensure seamless banking for its customers. This strategic alliance will help both the partners to leverage their individual strengths and reach out to a wider market and make auto loans available for prospective car owners on user-friendly terms.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Arvind Saxena, Director, Marketing and Sales, HMIL, said, “We are pleased to announce this partnership with United Bank of India as our customers will greatly benefit with the competitive rates and convenient locations that the bank provides. As we are rapidly increasing our sales network this tie up will further help us to reach our customers and increase our reach both in terms of our products and the finance option as well. We are confident that this effort will help us reach out to a wider consumer base with better and easier finance options.”

Under the agreement, both Hyundai Motor India dealers and the bank branches will source Hyundai Motor India car loan business using their customer database. The tie-up is extended to cover financing options by all the branches of the bank in India. Both the partners will utilize and leverage each other’s strengths to cross sell Hyundai vehicles and the bank’s car loans and schemes.

HMIL currently has a 293 strong dealer network and 580 strong service points across India, which will see further expansion in 2010.

The Jiangxi Kama Business Bus Co. Ltd. (Bonluck Bus) has become the first manufacturer to equip a bus with Allison’s new T390R transmission. Bonluck’s JXK6126 12.6 metre, 47 seat coach benefits from Shift Energy Management (SEM) – a new programme that dynamically manages torque through the transmission to increase durability and offer higher ratings capability. The T390R is the latest in a broad range of Allison transmissions supplied to Bonluck buses and coaches and reflects a long term strategic partnership between the two companies. Allison and Bonluck have cooperated in joint market development activities within China and overseas since Bonluck’s inception in 2007.

World class transmissions support global expansion : Bonluck buses are sold in the domestic market and exported globally where they are particularly popular among Australian fleets. Allison’s T270R transmission was selected initially for the Bonluck JXK6830 school bus, then the cooperation extended to 9.6m buses. Today Allison’s Torqmatic Series transmissions populate the full range of Bonluck buses between 8.3 and 14.5 metres. Among the range, the JXK6110 coach, equipped with the Allison T325R transmission, is widely recognised for its outstanding powertrain performance, high fuel efficiency and environmental credentials. It has been exported to many countries including Australia and New Zealand and is becoming increasingly popular with the passenger transport and tourism markets.

Complementing the adoption of the new T390R by Bonluck is a further new release – the Allison T450R transmission into the new JXK6145 coach – was announced at the recent Busworld Asia show (May 6, 2010). The longest (by almost a metre) single unit luxury tour coach in China produces an output of 500 hp and torque of 2100 Nm. “The safety, durability, and passengers comfort provided by Allison’s automatic transmission make it undoubtedly the best choice for the JXK6145 tour coach and intercity bus,” says general manager of Bonluck, Zhang Fucheng.

T390R showcases the latest transmission technologies : The Bonluck JXK6126 with the new T390R transmission produces 380 hp and torque of 1650 Nm; a 200Nm increase in input torque ratings compared to the T375 and T375R models. In addition to Auto-Neutral, Load Based Shift Scheduling (LBSS), and Allison’s prognostic features, the Shift Energy Management (SEM) function makes the best use of LBSS to ensure the optimum operation of the Vehicle Acceleration Control (VAC) and Super Economic Shift Scheduling (SESS). To support a continuing trend for ever increasing engine power and torque, SEM seamlessly modulates the engine torque before the shift is engaged. Clutch energy and thus temperatures are lowered, increasing durability and offering higher ratings capability without increasing the size of the transmission.

“Bonluck and its customers appreciate that Allison is consistently providing high quality transmission and effective aftersales services. At the moment, Allison automatic transmissions are fitted to the majority of our exports to Australia. It shows the profound cooperation between us,” concludes Fucheng.

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), the country’s second largest car manufacturer and the largest passenger car exporter, has been awarded the prestigious ‘Corporate Social Responsibility Award’ as the ‘Best Commercial and Industrial Institution’ for the year 2009-10.

The prestigious award, instituted by the Government of Tamil Nadu in 2008, aims to recognize and appreciate yeoman service in socio-economic welfare activities. Mr. R. Sethuraman and Mr. T. M. Kumar, Trustees of the Hyundai Motor India Foundation, received the award from Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Shri. M.K Stalin, at a function held in Chennai. The award carries a certificate of appreciation and a cash award of Rs. 5 lakh.

HMIL was felicitated for its CSR activities, carried out through its philanthropic arm – the Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), in the areas of community development, education, road safety, and preservation of art, culture and heritage.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. H.W. Park, MD and CEO, HMIL, said, “We are highly encouraged by this recognition, which will reinforce our commitment to giving something back to the society that drives our sustenance.
