For Love of the Game – Over 70% of Indians prefer to marry a Football enthusiast – Shaadi.com survey

Finding a partner now will depend on whether you have been crazy about the Football World Cup, as revealed by the recent Shaadi.com trend survey, the world’s largest matrimonial service.  According to the poll, over 70% of Indian respondents will not marry a partner who doesn’t share their passion for football. The poll was conducted during the semi-final phase of the World Cup 2010 fever to understand the partner preference of its members from over 70,000 Shaadi.com members.

Shaadi.com’s World Cup 2010 Poll reveals that now-a-days it is compatibility of hobbies and interests that play a vital role in the decision to marry in India.

Commenting on the Poll, Gourav Rakshit, Business Head, Shaadi.com says, “The poll reflects the mindset of today’s Indian youth. We wanted to see the impact of large sporting events on the lives of our member base. Although cricket is the people’s sport of India, football too seems to be gaining ground. The responses show that people believe it is important to find someone who shares one’s interests. This conclusion has been consistent across all our previous surveys.”
