Volkswagen clocks record sales in April 2010

Mumbai, May 4, 2010: Volkswagen India clocked a record sale of 1489 in April 2010.

On a month on month basis Volkswagen Jetta clocked a growth of 150% and the Passat 85% in April 2010 as compared to April 2009

On a year on year basis Volkswagen Jetta clocked a growth of 43% and the Passat 86% in Jan- Apr 2010 as compared to Jan – Apr 2009.

The total FBU (Fully Built Unit) sales including the Volkswagen Iconic New Beetle for the period of Jan-Apr 2010 were 226 and for the SUV Touareg were 69 for the same period.

Volkswagen’s entry into the hatchback segment with the New Polo has received an astounding response nationwide. Sales for the New Polo commenced in March 2010 and have so far clocked sales of 1599 units. Volkswagen has so far received confirmed booking of 7,300 units.  With this the waiting period is standing at 3-4 months.

Commenting on record sales, Mr. Neeraj Garg, Member of Board and Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd said “We are extremely delighted in seeing an upward trend in the sales of our vehicles. The response towards our products reflects customer confidence towards our brand Volkswagen”.
