Reliance Communications Submits Application for Nationwide 3G Spectrum
Mumbai 18th March 2010 : Reliance Communications, India’s first and only operator to offer nationwide CDMA and GSM services, submitted its application for the forthcoming 3G Spectrum auction today.
Reliance Communications offers next-generation mobility services on both CDMA and GSM technology platforms. The pan-India 3G ready GSM network, primarily in 1800 MHz spectrum band, was rolled out in January 2009 across 24,000 towns and 6 lakh Indian villages. The wireless network of Reliance Communications covers over One Billion Indians.
Earlier this week, Reliance Communications achieved the unique landmark of serving 100 Mn wireless customers in a single country, becoming the 4th operator in the world to achieve this milestone. The landmark achievement has been attained within seven years of Reliance Communications first launching its pan-India mobile services in 2003. Incidentally, it is also the fastest ramp up of mobile subscribers in the country from 10 million in mid-2005 to 100 million in just three and half years.

Any idea on which are the other mobile operators who gave their applications?
Reliance will try to be in every market. They always try to be the first to do that.

It is shameful that the Indian gov hasn’t yet managed to finish the auction. Getting tired of the shitty, scandalous ministers and bureaucrats.
A long wait for customers in India for 3G. Hope it’s rolled out soon.
